Billericay · Mid & South Essex

Areas we cover

We're based in Billericay, and most of the driveways and patios we lay are within about twenty miles of it.

That's deliberate. Staying close means we can get back to you quickly if something needs looking at, and it's the reason our guarantee is worth something.

Over 30 Years in Essex

Five-Year Written Guarantee

How far we travel

Billericay, Wickford, Basildon, Brentwood and the villages between them are home ground. We're there most weeks, and we can usually get out to quote within a few days.

Chelmsford, Rayleigh, Hockley, Benfleet and Upminster are comfortably within range for a full driveway or patio.

Further out - Southend, Romford, Braintree - we'll still take on larger jobs, but it's worth a phone call first so we can be straight with you about timings.

Towns We Work In

Essex isn't one place, and driveways here aren't one job. A Victorian frontage in Billericay, a new-build in Basildon and a farm track in Stock need different answers.

Here's where we work, and what tends to come up in each part of it.

Billericay & the surrounding villages

Home ground. Billericay is a mix of period frontages near the High Street and generous interwar plots further out, so we're quoting everything from a narrow two-car drive to a full sweeping in-and-out.

The villages around it - Ramsden Bellhouse, Crays Hill, Stock - bring longer approaches, more gravel, and ground that hasn't always been dug out properly the first time.

Brentwood & Ingatestone

Larger properties and bigger frontages, and the part of our patch where
people most often want something that looks like natural stone without the upkeep. Imprinted concrete does well here.

Shenfield and Hutton have seen a lot of extension and driveway work since the Elizabeth line arrived. Ingatestone and Mountnessing are more village in character, and parts sit within conservation areas where the finish matters.

Basildon & Wickford

Plenty of post-war estate housing here, which usually means a smaller
frontage and a front garden being turned over to parking for the first time.

That makes drainage the thing to get right. Once you're paving more than five square metres of front garden, water has to go somewhere other than the road, and we build that in rather than bolting it on afterwards.

Chelmsford & mid Essex

About half an hour out, and comfortably within range for a full driveway or
patio.

Chelmsford runs from Victorian terraces near the centre to large estates at
Great Baddow and Galleywood, then out to Writtle, Danbury and Ongar where plots get longer and access gets tighter. Worth mentioning access when you call - it changes how we plan the dig-out.

South Essex

Rayleigh, Hockley, Benfleet and Thundersley sit on higher ground, and sloping frontages are common - which makes falls and drainage the first thing we look at rather than an afterthought.

Canvey Island is the opposite problem. It's low-lying, and surface water needs planning for properly from the start.

Further afield

We'll take on larger jobs in Southend, Leigh-on-Sea, Upminster, Hornchurch, Romford, Maldon and Braintree, though it's worth a call first so we can be straight with you about when we could get to it.

One thing to know if you're out this way: dropped kerb applications don't all go through the same place. Most of Essex is handled by Essex Highways, but Southend and Thurrock run their own, and Upminster, Hornchurch and Romford come under the London Borough of Havering. Different forms, different fees, different waiting times.

Not on the list? Give us a call... if it's a decent-sized job we'll usually come and look.

Why Working Locally Makes a Difference

Much of Essex sits on clay. It shifts with the seasons - swelling when it's wet, shrinking back in a dry summer - and a driveway laid without accounting for that will show you within a few years.

After thirty years working the same patch, we know which roads sit on heavy clay, where the drainage runs, and how deep the sub-base needs to go to handle it.

That's not something you get from a firm quoting your job off a satellite image.
